The tech layoff wave that began in 2022 is still going strong in 2025. Last year, more than 150,000 job cuts were recorded across 549 companies, according to the independent layoffs tracker Layoffs.fyi. So far this year, more than 22,000 workers have been affected by reductions across the tech industry, with a staggering 16,084 cuts taking place in February alone. Below is a comprehensive list of all known tech layoffs that have occurred in 2025, updated regularly. This tracker serves as a reminder of the human impact of layoffs — and what could be at stake with increased innovation as businesses continue to embrace AI and automation.

January

January saw a variety of layoffs across both startups and established companies. Stripe laid off 300 people, though the fintech giant stated it plans to grow total headcount by 17%. Wayfair cut up to 730 jobs (3% of its workforce) as it exited operations in Germany to focus on physical retailers. Altruist eliminated 37 jobs (roughly 10% of its workforce) even as it pursued aggressive hiring. Aqua Security cut dozens of employees globally as part of a strategic reorganization. SolarEdge Technologies laid off 400 employees globally — its fourth layoff round since January 2024 amid a solar industry downturn. Other notable cuts: Level (fintech) shut down abruptly, Placer.ai laid off 150 employees (18% of workforce) to reach profitability, Amazon cut dozens in its communications department, Textio laid off 15 employees, Pocket FM cut 75 employees, Aurora Solar cut 58 employees, Meta cut 5% of staff targeting low performers, Pandion shut down affecting 63 employees, and Icon laid off 114 employees. February

February was the heaviest month for layoffs in 2025, with 16,234 employees affected. Major cuts included HP cutting up to 2,000 jobs as part of its “Future Now” restructuring plan. GrubHub laid off 500 jobs (over 20% of its workforce) after being sold to Wonder Group. Autodesk announced layoffs of 1,350 employees (9% of workforce) to reshape its go-to-market model. eBay cut a few dozen employees in Israel. Starbucks cut 1,100 jobs in a reorganizing effort affecting tech workers. Commercetools laid off dozens after failing to meet sales growth targets. Dayforce cut roughly 5% of its workforce. Expedia laid off more employees (unknown number). Skybox Security ceased operations, affecting roughly 300 people. HerMD shut down operations. Zendesk cut 51 jobs in San Francisco. Vendease cut 120 employees (44% of staff). Logically laid off dozens. Blue Origin laid off about 10% (over 1,000 employees). Redfin cut around 450 positions. Sophos laid off 6% of its workforce. March

March brought 8,834 layoffs. Notable cuts included Northvolt laying off 2,800 employees (62% of total staff) after filing for bankruptcy. Block (Jack Dorsey’s company) let go of 931 employees (8%). Brightcove laid off 198 employees (two-thirds of its U.S. workforce) after being acquired. Acxiom laid off 130 employees (3.5%). Sequoia Capital closed its Washington D.C. office, letting go of 3 full-time employees. Siemens announced plans to let go of ~5,600 jobs globally. HelloFresh laid off 273 employees and closed a distribution center. Otorio cut 45 employees (more than half) after acquisition. ActiveFence cut 22 employees (7%). D-ID cut 22 jobs (nearly a quarter). April

April saw more than 24,500 employees laid off. Major cuts: NetApp eliminated 700 jobs (6%). Electronic Arts let go of ~300-400 employees. Expedia laid off ~3% of employees. Cars24 reduced workforce by ~200. Meta let go of over 100 employees in Reality Labs. Intel announced plans to lay off more than 21,000 employees (~20% of workforce) — the largest single company cut of the year. GM laid off 200 at Factory Zero. Zopper let go of ~100. Turo reduced workforce by 150 after cancelling IPO. GupShup laid off ~200 employees. Forto eliminated 200 jobs (~one-third). Wicresoft stopped China operations affecting ~2,000. May

May accounted for 10,397 layoffs. Key cuts: Hims & Hers downsized by 68 employees (4%). Amazon laid off ~100 in devices and services. Microsoft cut over 6,500 jobs (3% of workforce). Chegg let go of 248 employees (22%). Match reduced workforce by 13%. CrowdStrike laid off 5% (~500). General Fusion cut ~25% of workforce. Deep Instinct reduced headcount by 20 (10%). Beam shut down operations, affecting ~200.

June

June totaled 1,606 layoffs. Highlights: TomTom cut 300 jobs (10%). Rivian reduced headcount by ~140 (1%). Bumble cut ~240 jobs (30%). Klue laid off 85 (40%). Google downsized smart TV division by 25% (~75 roles). Intel planned to lay off 15-20% of Intel Foundry division. Playtika let go of ~90. Airtime let go of ~25 from 58-person team. Microsoft laid off more employees in software and product roles.

July

July recorded 16,327 layoffs. Major events: Atlassian cut 150 roles in customer support. Consensys cut about 47 employees (7%). Zeen shut down. Scale AI laid off ~200 employees (14%) and cut 500 contractors. Lenovo cut more than 100 U.S. jobs (3%). Intel laid off nearly 2,400 workers in Oregon. Indeed & Glassdoor combined to eliminate ~1,300 jobs. Eigen Lab laid off 29 (25% of workforce). Microsoft cut 9,000 employees (<4%). ByteDance laid off 65 in Bellevue.

August

August saw 6,302 layoffs. Notable: Cisco eliminated 221 positions. Restaurant365 laid off ~100 (9%). Oracle cut 101 in Santa Clara and 161 in Seattle. F5 cut 106 positions. Peloton cut 6% of workforce. Kaltura cut 10% (~70). Yotpo laid off ~200 (34%). Windsurf laid off 30, offered buyouts to remaining 200. Wondery cut 100 jobs.

September

September accounted for 4,152 layoffs. Key cuts: Just Eat eliminated ~450 jobs. Fiverr cut ~250 (30%). ZipRecruiter closed Tel Aviv center, cutting ~80. GupShup laid off at least 100. xAI laid off ~500 (one-third of data annotation team). Rivian laid off ~200 (1.5%). Oracle cut 101 in Seattle and 254 in San Francisco. Salesforce trimmed 262 jobs at HQ.

October

October was the second-heaviest month with 18,510 layoffs. Highlights: Amazon cut up to 14,000 corporate roles (10%) — the largest single month cut. Rivian cut 600 (4%). Meta laid off ~600 in AI infrastructure units. Applied Materials cut ~1,400 (4%). Handshake laid off ~100 (15%). Smartsheet laid off over 120. Google cut over 100 design roles in cloud division. Paycom laid off over 500 due to AI.

November

November brought 8,932 layoffs. Major cuts: Intel eliminated 59 Bay Area jobs (ongoing). HP set to cut 4,000–6,000 by 2028. Apple cut sales positions. Monarch Tractor laid off over 100 or could shut down. Playtika laid off 700-800 (20%). Pipe laid off ~200 (half). Synopsys cut ~2,000 (10%) tied to Ansys acquisition. Deepwatch laid off 60-80. Axonius cut ~100 (10%). MyBambu closed operations, laying off 141. Hewlett-Packard removed 52 positions.

December

December so far has 300 layoffs. Notable: Zebra Technologies winding down its AMR business (most employees leaving). Amazon cutting 84 jobs in Seattle/Bellevue. Lusha laying off 8% (~24). Tenstorrent cut 7.5% (~75). Payoneer letting go of ~60 (6%). VSCO laid off 24. Mobileye cutting 200 (4%). Inside Inbound Health shut down.
